MABEL LAKE MARINA UPDATES

MABEL LAKE RESORT & MARINA UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP/MANAGEMENT

Posted 6/1/2017

Terry and Ken Laursen have made some changes in their partnership and the ownership structure at Mabel Lake. Due to  Estate Planning, Mabel Lake Resort & Marina and Mabel Lake Golf and Country Club will now be run under two separate entities.

Terry will own and operate the Mabel Lake Resort and Marina. Ken will own and operate the Golf Course and Country Club, Airpark and miscellaneous properties.

While some things have changed, the mission statement of 'Exceeding Expectations' remains the same throughout the Resort, Airpark, and Golf Course areas.

MABEL LAKE MARINA PIER

Posted 7/16/2014

 OPENNING SOON

The pier is here, the gates are installed, the gridwork secured, and if all other required checks are aligned - today July 22, 2014 - may be the openning day for the Mabel Lake Marina Pier. Stay tuned for photos of the first pedestrians to cross the 240ft. expanse and touchdown on a solid, yet floating  concrete dock.

Plan on attending the Mabel Lake Resort Barbeque on July 23, 2014 for a 'walk-a-bout' on the new Pier and Marina, followed by savoury slices of BBQ Roast, Baked Potatoes  and generous scoups of our Buffet Salads!

July Long Weekend

Posted 6/29/2014

The new Mabel Lake Marina. July 2014The first owners boats slid into their slips this weekend, some fastening into their permanent home, while others were temorarily housed on B,C, or D dock, awating the final construction touches to their numbered slips. The past two weeks have passed in a blur of activity, the last loads of concrete docks arrived, the crane came and went a few times, and the Burton Marina crew worked long 6 or 7 day weeks unloading, moving, trimming, assembling and anchoring. The first 8 sections of the breakwater was pulled into place - weighing in at just over 1 million lbs. and two days later 6 more pieces followed completing the 500+ ft. breakwater.

Comments & Accolades

Posted 6/4/2014

It is now two weeks since the first pieces of concrete were floated onto Mabel Lake, officially launching the "assembly" phase of the new Mabel Lake Marina. For the first few days work progressed slowly, as  the dock crews slowly eased each load of concrete into the water, then guided each piece out to deep water.  First piece of concrete to form part of the new Mabel Lake Marina floated into water.

But now 14 days later the transformation of the area is impressive, as blocks of walkways, and breakwater pieces dwarf the old marina docks, and just past the old breakwater is an island of 42 concrete fingers which have been bolted together, creating the first slips of B,C,and D Dock.

As the new Marina begins to take shape we have been over whelmed with the enthusiasm from neighbors both near and far who have come to walk on, and feel the "sturdiness" of our floating marina.

The Marina is Launched

Posted 5/20/2014

Our contractor has started assembly and the Marina has now been "launched".

Around fifty semi truck loads of precast concrete docks as large as 56 feet long,  weighing in at over 43,000 lbs  a piece, have begun convoying down Mabel Lake Road to the stage one, off loading site, by Lakeside Estates. From there they will be taken down to their destination in front of Mabel Lake Resort. The first trucks arriving with concrete marina blocks for the new Mabel Lake Marina.Only two experienced drivers will be given the task of moving the large precast concrete loads to their final destination, backing the trucks down Large Road boat launch where a 90000 lb  Crane has been waiting to lift them out to float into the water. This is where high water has become a determining factor, and Mother Nature comes into play. The depth of the water will continue to determine our dates and deadlines, for floating the concrete docks, for the assembly team, who are on site, soon with vibration pile drivers, work barges, ready to set the piles, and anchors.
